Sylhet: A journey through mist and memories

Sylhet: A journey through mist and memories

Travelling has always been my most favorite hobby. It is an excellent way to explore the world and make memories. And I created most of my memories in my college life. Our college took us on a three day trip to Sylhet. I was very excited by the fact that I was going to travel to a picturesque region along with my friends. This is a small sample of my most recent travels in Sylhet.

Sylhet is a region in northeastern Bangladesh famously known for its tea estates. It has stunning natural beauty. The hills are covered in green tea bushes. The view is breathtaking and mesmerizing. Our trip was full of excitement and anticipation. Our college took the whole responsibility of the tour. It was a journey by bus. We all took permission from our parents which took us a lot of effort. But by the end we all got the consent to go on the trip.

Day 1: Arrival

.We all gathered together in our college and departed early in the morning to make the most of the day. Two buses were hired for us. And the journey started. The journey was full of laughter and music. It was a winter morning and the weather started to chill down. The temperature was mild and pleasant. It was the best time to visit and sightsee as well as enjoying outdoor activities. Our teachers arranged breakfast and snacks for us during the journey. It took almost five to six hours to reach our destination. At first we stopped at Lawachara National Park. We tried to capture nature's beauty. Then we reached our hotel. We got our respective rooms. Me and my other two friends were in the same room. Then we got down in the lounge room for our lunch. After finishing lunch we got on the bus again and started towards our next visit. We reached the Baikka Beel. Baikka Beel is a floodplain wetland including numerous species of migratory birds. The place was calming and soothing. We took pictures with everyone. Then we started going to a resort called “Rangauti Resort”. There we had our dinner. After that we started heading back to the hotel. At the hotel lounge our teachers arranged a competition and the day ended with this.

Day 2: Waterfall and Tea Gardens

The next day we started in the morning after breakfast. We had our first destination to Madhabkunda. It is famous for the waterfall known as the largest waterfall in Bangladesh. The sound of water is the most refreshing. After a few hours, we reached the Chairman’s bungalow of Bangladesh Tea Board. After having our lunch we headed towards Gogon Tila by hiking and trekking. Then we had a dinner party at the Police commissioner bungalow. We had a BBQ party and cultural night. And the night ended.

Day 3: Ending

We started packing our bags to return home. We created a lot of memories. We returned to our college. And the trip ended.

This trip has left a remarkable impression on my mind. I would highly recommend everyone to visit Sylhet for its peaceful environment.
